Easily add a touch of colour to your baking creations with wilton icing colours. These concentrated gel food colourings give you deep, rich colours by adding a small amount. They are thick in consistency so they won’t thin out your icing as you mix it.
How to Color Icing
Use for tinting: Buttercream, royal icing and cake batter are perfect for coloring. You can also use these for decorating cakes with piping gel and for a pop of color on top of cupcakes, cookies and other treats.
Tint your favorite icing shades to match your decor with this ice-cream style set of 12 colors. Each color comes in a concentrated gel-based formula that won’t change the consistency of your buttercream, icing or royal icing.
Icing Colors: Apply in small amounts, using a clean toothpick or spatula to ensure a smooth finish and a bright shade of color. Keep in mind that colors fade slightly after a few hours.
How Much Do I Need?
For best results, start with a small amount of color and work your way up to the desired shade. Then check your icing to make sure you’ve achieved the right color by mixing it and dipping a clean toothpick in the icing to remove any excess.
Do I Need To Add More Icing Colour?
Icing colours are highly concentrated and will require a little more color than you might think. To achieve a darker shade, it might take as much as 1 oz of paste color per cup of icing to obtain a dark red. If your icing is colored too dark, add a few drops of white-white to lighten it up.
